How much does trail cutting cost?

Trail work is priced on length, width and what the machine has to cut through, so a walking path through moderate brush and a wide corridor through dense timber on a slope are very different numbers. We do not publish per-foot figures because they mislead more often than they help — you get a fixed price after a free on-site walk of the route. How wide should my trail be?

Walking trails work well at 4–6 feet wide. ATV trails need 8–10 feet. Equipment or vehicle access trails should be 12–16 feet. Wide open corridors are typically 16–20 feet. We'll recommend the right width for your intended use.

Will the trail surface hold up in rain?

Yes. The mulch surface created by our forestry mulching process provides excellent drainage and remains stable in wet conditions. Unlike bare soil trails that turn to mud, mulch trails stay firm and walkable through Western Washington's rainy season.

Can you cut trails on steep hillsides?

Absolutely. Our CAT 275XE is stable on slopes up to 35 degrees. We design hillside trails with proper cross-slopes and drainage features to prevent erosion. For very steep terrain, we assess safety on a case-by-case basis.

Types of Trails We Create

Recreational trails are our most popular request. Property owners throughout Snohomish, King, and Skagit counties want walking and hiking paths through their wooded land. We cut trails 4–8 feet wide with smooth surfaces and gentle grades that are enjoyable to walk year-round.

Equipment access trails need to be wider (10–16 feet) and engineered for vehicle traffic. We create ATV trails, tractor paths, and service roads that can handle regular use without becoming muddy ruts — the mulch surface provides excellent drainage and traction.

Wide access corridors serve a dual purpose: comfortable recreational walking and room for equipment or maintenance vehicles. We cut 12–20 foot corridors where owners want an open, usable route rather than a narrow footpath.

Utility corridors keep power lines, water systems, and access routes clear. We partner with property managers and utility providers to maintain cleared corridors on scheduled rotations.

Trail Design for Pacific Northwest Terrain

Western Washington's terrain demands thoughtful trail design. Our operators consider slope, drainage, soil type, and existing vegetation patterns when laying out trail routes. We follow natural contours wherever possible to minimize erosion and create comfortable grades.

On hillsides, we cut trails at slight cross-slopes to shed water off the trail surface rather than channeling it down the path.
