Access & Recreation
Create new trails or restore overgrown paths through your property. Perfect for recreational access, utility routes, fire breaks, and connecting different areas of your land.
Whether you want a walking trail through your wooded acreage, an ATV path connecting your barn to back pasture, or a utility access corridor for power line maintenance, Sasquatch Land Co. creates clean, durable trails through any terrain and vegetation in Western Washington.
Our forestry mulching equipment is ideal for trail cutting because it creates a smooth, mulch-covered surface in a single pass. Unlike hand-clearing with chainsaws (slow and uneven) or bulldozing (destroys topsoil and creates erosion), mulching produces a natural-looking trail with built-in erosion protection from the mulch layer.
Recreational trails are our most popular request. Property owners throughout Snohomish, Skagit, and Whatcom counties want walking and hiking paths through their wooded land. We cut trails 4–8 feet wide with smooth surfaces and gentle grades that are enjoyable to walk year-round.
Equipment access trails need to be wider (10–16 feet) and engineered for vehicle traffic. We create ATV trails, tractor paths, and service roads that can handle regular use without becoming muddy ruts — the mulch surface provides excellent drainage and traction.
Fire break trails serve dual purpose: recreational access and wildfire protection. We create 12–20 foot wide fuel breaks that function as both hiking trails and defensible fire lines, particularly valuable for properties in the foothills east of I-5.
Utility corridors keep power lines, water systems, and access routes clear. We partner with property managers and utility providers to maintain cleared corridors on scheduled rotations.
Western Washington's terrain demands thoughtful trail design. Our operators consider slope, drainage, soil type, and existing vegetation patterns when laying out trail routes. We follow natural contours wherever possible to minimize erosion and create comfortable grades.
On hillsides, we cut trails at slight cross-slopes to shed water off the trail surface rather than channeling it down the path. Strategic water bars and drainage dips are incorporated on steeper sections. The mulch layer from our clearing process provides an excellent natural surface that resists erosion during heavy rain.
We work around specimen trees, rock features, and viewpoints to create trails that showcase your property's best natural features. Many clients have us route trails to scenic overlooks, creek crossings, or favorite spots on their land.
