Field Notes

    Real Projects, Documented Honestly

Each field note covers one real property: what was growing, what got in the way, how we cleared it, what we protected, and what still needs follow-up.

After: the same fence line cleared by forestry mulching, with level ground, mulch left in place, and the cedar and evergreens still standing

    Snohomish County, WA

    Blackberry-choked fence line mulched flat

A chain-link fence line buried under mature Himalayan blackberry was mulched back to open, level ground in place. The mulching head worked several inches into the surface layer so canes and root crowns were processed rather than just topped, the cedar and evergreens along the line were left standing, and nothing was burned or hauled off. Blackberry can still regenerate from remaining root crowns or seed, so a follow-up pass is worth planning.
