On a residential driveway, it eats potholes, knocks down washboarding, pulls the high spots into the low spots, levels the crown, and leaves a tight, uniform surface you could roll a marble across.

What Power Raking Actually Does to a Beat-Up Gravel Driveway

A Harley Power Rake has a hydraulic carbide-toothed drum that spins, cuts and screens the top 2–4 inches of your existing driveway. As the CAT 255 drives forward, the rake:

• Slices off the tops of every washboard ridge • Pulls all the loose gravel out of the potholes and back into the running surface • Separates rocks from organic material so weeds and roots get screened out the back • Re-establishes a proper crown so water sheets off instead of pooling and forming new potholes • Leaves a finished, compacted-looking surface in one pass

Building a new driveway from scratch? We handle the entire job: stripping topsoil and organic material, shaping the sub-grade, installing geotextile fabric where soils are soft (very common in the Stillaguamish and Snohomish river valleys), placing and compacting a structural base of 2"-minus or quarry spalls, then topping with 5/8"-minus crushed rock — the standard Western Washington driveway surface.
