Gravel driveway grading on Mukilteo's steep bluff drives
Mukilteo's gravel driveways are mostly the steep ones: private lanes dropping off Mukilteo Boulevard and the bluffs toward Possession Sound, older drives in Old Town, and shared roads near Picnic Point serving a few homes below the ridge. On that kind of grade, rain gathers speed down the wheel tracks, strips the fine material out of the gravel and leaves loose rock and deep ruts. Gravel driveway grading here is really about controlling where water goes.
On the assessment we follow the water from the top of the drive to the bottom and mark where it can safely leave. Where runoff would head toward a bluff, we check before changing anything, because hillsides above the Sound can carry city or county rules. The PR121 rebuilds cross-slope from recovered rock, while new culverts, ditches or drainage redesign are quoted separately.
