Stump grinding in Sultan and the Skykomish valley
The Sultan area mixes river-bottom acreage along the Skykomish with forested hillside lots up Sultan Basin Road and east toward Startup and Gold Bar. On the low ground, cottonwood and alder grow fast and come down often, leaving stumps across pastures and near the river. Up the hills, clearing for a home or a view leaves big Douglas fir, hemlock and cedar. Both settings tend to mean multiple stumps, spread out, on ground that stays wet.
Before we commit the CAT 275XE, we check how it reaches each stump over soft ground, what the grinding order should be and where the chips will go. We measure every flare at ground level and agree a depth that suits the next use, whether that is pasture, lawn or a building pad. Work near the river or a stream can carry county rules, so we check those first.
